Great news...Amelia's Day 14 bone marrow showed that her blasts (leukemia cells) are down to 1%. This is a very positive outcome and bodes well for her future treatments. This shows that her body is responding very well to the chemotherapy, and that achieving remission by Day 29 is very realistic indeed.
As for life at home – it seems that our princess and lover of all things fairy, girly, and pink has morphed into the troll under the bridge. The steroids are showing their warty side these days, as Amelia has been having meltdowns, obsessing about food, and waking during the night to eat. It feels a little bit like having a high-strung newborn (or Rick Flair) for a housemate! Fortunately, we have only 10 steroid days left, and man are we counting them down. To keep everything in perspective, though, she wouldn’t be getting better without them, and her future protocol will not be as intense as the past three weeks have been.
Thanks for your continued good thoughts and wishes for Amelia’s return to health. We appreciate all of the support!
